The New Maruti Swift 2017 will have an all new design both inside and out, along with several new features.

While the European model might get three new petrol engines, the India-bound Maruti Swift 2017 could continue to feature the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel units.

India’s most successful B-segment hatchback, Maruti Suzuki Swift, will finally enter its second generation model in the year 2017.  The company has in fact started testing the vehicle in Europe. The new Maruti Swift 2017 will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2016, while the India launch will happen next year.  Thanks to the leaked images and an AutoExpress rendering, we know the changes the new Maruti Swift 2017 will receive.  Just so you know, the Swift 2017 will share its platform with the Baleno and thus is expected to be better on performance and fuel economy.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift 2017 will see some significant exterior upgrades as it will get a large hexagonal grille, new headlamps, a floating roofline and all-new wraparound tail-lights. Similar to the Mahindra KUV100 and Chevrolet Beat, the rear door handle of the new Maruti Swift 2017 will be shifted on the C-Pillar. Having said that, the new model continues to carry the original silhouette and that’s not a bad thing since the vehicle is still liked for its design.
The new-gen model will be longer and wider than the existing Swift. With a lightweight platform and components, the hatchback’s 2017 model will be 100kg (approx.) lighter than the current model. The European model is expected to come with three new petrol powertrains – a 1.0-litre turocharged petrol, 1.2-litre mild hybrid and a 1.4-litre Boosterjet petrol mill. The Indian model, however, might retain the same 1.2-litre K-series petrol and the 1.3-litre multijet diesel engine. Rumour has it that the Maruti Swift 2017 might also get an all-new diesel mill which is being developed in-house by Maruti Suzuki.
